Matthijs, known for his relentless drive and ambition, is a highly passionate executive who has held leading positions in corporate and family owned companies across several brand-driven industries, ranging from sports and consumer goods to pharma and appliances. He established his own consultancy firm specialized in company turnarounds and scaling businesses before joining the growth journey at Basi Systems in 2023, first as Board Member and then as CEO of the company. Matthijs holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, an Executive MBA (dean’s honors) from the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University), as well as a degree in sports management – and is a licensed Judo and Fitness trainer. In addition to his professional achievements, he is a former professional athlete, having become the World Champion in Jiu-Jitsu in 2002.
