Dr. Andrew Tay

Dr. Andrew Tay is the Chief Wellbeing Officer at the National University of Singapore (NUS), overseeing the groundbreaking initiatives of the NUS Health & Wellbeing unit (HWB).

Under Andrew’s leadership, the HWB has achieved unprecedented success since 2020. Through innovative initiatives such as the “return-to- work case management”, “wellbeing business partnering” and unique destigmatisation campaigns, the unit has tangibly improved the wellbeing of the university community. Andrew has also pioneered the WellNUS systematic framework, revolutionizing the approach to mental health among practitioners. The success of these initiatives under Andrew’s stewardship has not gone unnoticed. Notably, the HWB has been honored with prestigious awards, including the WorkWell Leaders & Wellbeing Organisation of the Year award, and the HR Excellence Gold Award in Workplace Wellbeing. These accolades are a testament to the tangible improvements and the positive impact the HWB has had on the NUS community and redefining mental health approaches.

A medical professional with a wealth of experience in the tech and pharma industries, Andrew has played pivotal roles in the Employee Benefits and Wellbeing space. Serving as the Regional Benefits Consultant for Facebook, he steered the design of physical and mental health benefits across the Asia Pacific.

As the Director for Health & Wellbeing at GSK, he led the development of occupational health services and strategies, enhancing the health and wellbeing of employees in Singapore and the broader APAC region. Andrew is a proud alumnus of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and holds a Masters of Public Health with a specialization in Occupational and Environmental Health from NUS, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource from SMU. His post-graduate training was completed at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Health, and restructured hospitals. Outside of his professional endeavours, Andrew is passionate about music and the arts. He enjoys expressing his creative side by playing bass guitar in a live band and crafting his own cocktails at home.

He is also a speaker at Beyond Activ WORLD in Singapore.
