Josephine Png is the founding Director of Sales and Marketing of Capella Bangkok, leading the charge to fulfil Capella Hotels and Resorts’ focus on crafting authentic, cultural experiences for its guests, combining a legacy of thoughtful design with the highest level of personalised service to create the perfect stay for each guest. Josephine is a visionary, versatile leader with astute strategic foresight, essential in the field of hospitality which is known to be fast moving and requires exceptional strengths in manpower acquisition and retention, adaptation, and trend prediction. With close to 30 years of international experience with award-winning luxury hotel brands including Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, The Peninsula Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and Grand Hyatt, she has consistently delivered significant business value in different segments of the hospitality field.

Josephine has dedicated more than a third of her career working in Thailand. Inquisitive by nature, she sees Thailand as a cornucopia of diversity and charm, always offering new and unique experiences to her visitors. Leveraging her deep expertise and understanding of the hospitality industry, and of
Thailand, Josephine spearheaded the pre-opening team from ground-up and led the recent opening of Capella Bangkok, launching Capella’s first foray into Thailand. The hotel received more than 10 international accolades within the first year of operations, including Travel + Leisure ‘World’s Best Awards 2021 – No.1 Best City Hotel – Bangkok’; Condé Nast Traveller ‘Hot List 2021 – Best New Hotel Openings’; and Departures Magazine ‘The Legend Awards
2021 – The 15 Most Astounding Hotel Openings Worldwide’.

Josephine’s concept of wellness begins with the soul. The first complement starts within oneself that a person needs to focus on being happy and positive, while letting go of the various stressors of life. From within to without, one’s energy would exert an influence on the external environment and thus, one is able to pursue wellness independent of the initial conditions. The second complement is the Chinese concept of ‘root’ which can be described as a sense of identity such as language, traditions, culture, cuisine, and values. As an ethnic Teochew Chinese, Josephine continues to uphold traditions through cooking and speaking the dialect. In addition to her own ethnic practices, Josephine embraces other forms of Asian healing
such as traditional medicines of various cultures, complementary medicine and herbal medicine. In her free time, she enjoys Pilates, travelling, spending quality moments with friends and family, and volunteering. A devout Buddhist by upbringing, Josephine sits in the executive committee of a non-profit Buddhist centre in Singapore.
