Edgard Gomes Corona

Edgard Gomes Corona, a chemical engineer and fitness industry entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience, is the founder and Chairman of Grupo Smart Fit.

In 1996, he launched the Bio Ritmo gym chain and, in 2009, introduced the high value, low cost fitness concept to Brazil with Smart Fit. The group is the leader in Latin America, with more than 2,000 units across 16 countries. Over 5.2 million Latin Americans take care of their health at Grupo Smart Fit’s gyms, which owns the brands Bio Ritmo, Nation CT, Velocity, the wellness aggregator TotalPass, and others. Edgard has been recognized as the winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Master Category, granted by Ernst & Young, and was named one of the best CEOs in Brazil by Forbes in 2025. Edgar is also a speaker at Beyond Activ Americas in Dallas, USA.
