Dr. Andy Poh is a Healthcare Strategist, Leadership and Transformation Advisor, and Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham.
Dr. Andy Poh’s career spans the public and private sectors. His roles include advising country-level and organizational leadership on strategy, policy and transformation, as well as establishing and managing healthcare systems. His expertise encompasses healthcare transformation, business growth and public administration.
He is Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham with the Health Services Management Centre, one of the United Kingdom’s foremost centres for research, evaluation and professional development for health and social care organizations, which has been established for more than 50 years. Concurrently, he is Senior Fellow at the Health and Global Policy Institute in Japan, which focusses on transformative citizen-centered health policies.
He is longstanding Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office of the United Arab Emirates, with a broad scope including national policies, strategies, innovation, future readiness, government development and global partnerships. Earlier, he worked in the Government of Dubai at the Dubai Health Authority with roles of strategic transformation and business innovation. Prior to the UAE, he was based in Singapore and China as Vice President and General Manager of a listed healthcare group, growing its network and leading overseas market expansion via greenfield and brownfield strategies. He first started his career as a doctor practising medicine in Australia and Singapore. Dr. Andy brings perspectives including those of system-level transformation, public-private partnerships and integrated strategies of population health care delivery. He has special interests in the future of healthcare, emerging technologies and innovation. Dr. Andy has attained graduate qualifications in Medicine, Law, Public Administration, Business Administration and Education, namely: Master of Laws (Distinction), MSc in Public Administration and Development (Distinction), Master of Business Administration (Distinction), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Graduate Qualifications in Occupational Medicine, Family Medicine, Family Practice Dermatology and Higher Education. Dr. Andy is registered with the Singapore Medical Council and Medical Board of Australia, as well as a Designated Workplace Doctor under the Ministry of Manpower for occupational health and safety.
