There has never been a better time than right now to be a personal wellness consumer.

The world is increasingly moving away from unhealthy experiences and choices that increase the risk of illness – and closer than ever to wellness. The definition of this space is consistent worldwide: consumers are evolving beyond fitness and traditional medical care, seeking holistic, preventative services that help them stay physically strong, mentally healthy, and ensure longevity.  

The latest data from the Global Wellness Institute shows the global wellness economy reached $6.3 trillion in 2023, and has grown at nearly 6% each year since 2019. With a projection to reach $9.0 trillion by 2028, it shows that it’s never been a better time than right now to operate in the global wellness economy.  

In 2024, the industry experienced remarkable growth, nearing $150 billion USD and serving 230 million members worldwide. This expansion is fueled by a renewed consumer focus on longevity and holistic health, along with the continued rise of hybrid fitness models that seamlessly blend in-person experiences with digital solutions. These models are transforming how individuals engage with fitness, offering more flexibility and personalized options. 

Significant global expansion is also shaping the future of fitness. In Southeast Asia, demand is soaring as health-conscious consumers seek accessible, high-quality wellness options. Rising incomes, urbanization, and growing awareness of the benefits of exercise are driving the proliferation of fitness centers across both metropolitan and suburban areas. 

Similarly, the Middle East is entering an exciting era of fitness growth. Government initiatives aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles and addressing lifestyle-related diseases are making fitness a central part of daily life for more people in the region. Countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar are investing heavily in wellness infrastructure, and the demand for premium fitness experiences is rising rapidly. Stacy Anderson is responsible for the growth of key brands in the Purpose Brands portfolio that help people on their health and wellness journeys, in three ways: through personalized training and coaching via Anytime Fitness; through nutrition coaching and tracking via Stronger U Nutrition; and through their employer and insurer programs via Healthy Contributions. She has steered the growth and expansion of Anytime Fitness since 2016 into the world’s largest fitness franchise brand, which serves more than 5 million members at gyms across more than 42 countries and territories and on all seven continents. She’s currently leading the evolution of Anytime Fitness from its pioneering 24/7 convenience model to a more personalized coaching approach, featuring new digital technologies and a broader selection of training programs and holistic health offerings. Stacy first joined Self Esteem Brands (now Purpose Brands) in 2012 as Chief Marketing Officer. In that role, Stacy oversaw all marketing functions for the Anytime Fitness and Waxing the City brands and quickly earned a reputation for moving big projects forward. Prior to Self Esteem Brands, Anderson held executive marketing positions at Best Buy and Geek Squad. Stacy is a member of the HFA board of directors, the world’s largest fitness industry association. She holds an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Her most notable accomplishment is raising two happy, outgoing teenagers – Noah and Aiden – with her husband, Trever.
