  • Amazon has acquired primary healthcare organisation One Medical in a USD$3.9bn deal that will see it moving further into the wellness market.
  • Health Club Management SaaS company ABC Fitness Solutions acquired Glofox to create an industry-leading global fitness technology company.
  • Congrats to VIVA Leisure and their H1 results. Forecasted, their annualised revenue run rate for FY23 is already at AUS$124.5m, and direct corporate members were above 160,000 for the first time.
  • Singapore based oat milk market Oatside raised USD$65.6M in a series A round co-led by Temasek Holdings and GGV capital.
  • Insilico Medicine, a Hong Kong-based health technology company, has received USD$95 million in a Series D funding round led by Saudi Aramco-backed Prosperity7, as it prepares to scale up operations in the Middle East with a new R&D base in the UAE.
  • WellnessLiving, an international cloud-based business management software and integrated payments platform for fitness and wellness operators, has secured a US$66 million investment from McCarthy Capital and CIBC Innovation Banking.
  • The opening of Aman New York coincides with an announcement that Aman Group has secured US$900M investment. This will value the company at over $3 billion and accelerate its global expansion of ultra-luxury hotels and residences.
  • Last but not least, Slingo has put together a list of the countries world-wide that are best for taking a wellness retreat based on keywords in reviews in TripAdvisor. Thailand claimed 1st position with Indonesia 2nd and Maldives 3rd.
  • Australia’s leading health and wellbeing foundations convene in Canberra to address the impact of inactivity and seek input from the government to formulate a physical and preventative health strategy
  • Fitness Franchise Fitstop has received $3.3 million in second–round funding from Lift Brands to launch into the US market. This follows Lift Brands’ acquisition of a 30 per cent stake in the business early last year.
  • Game-changing ‘High Value, Low Price’ gym GO2FIT makes its Aussie debut in Brisbane this October. The partnership is with Urban Active Leisure who will be launching the first of 15 new Urban Active locations
  • Premium boutique fitness concept Fire Fit has announced that it is to open its second and third studios on the Sunshine Coast in the coming months, partnering with Next Round Investments Pty Ltd.
  • Clean Health, a fitness education for personal trainers worldwide, forms an exclusive partnership with EMF Fitness Centres to provide its personal trainers with industry-leading continuing education programs.
  • Plus Fitness treated its franchise network (over 200 franchisees) with an inspiring and uplifting Annual Conference in Sydney. They also hosted a trade show across the 2 days so franchisees could engage with suppliers.
  • Also, LES MILLS LIVE Melbourne brought together close to 1,200 Les Mills instructors and enthusiasts for incredible workouts and connection. Congrats Ryan and the team for bringing this epic event to life.
  • KL Wellness City has unveiled its first-of-its-kind sustainable healthcare-based integrated mixed-development township, called KL Wellness City, spanning 26.49 acres, gross development value of more than RM11Bn.
  • Pure Fitness/Yoga in SG – organised their PURE Passport Round-the-World Holistic Wellness hosted by their international team of professionals. Enjoy 3 open weekends across 22 locations.
  • UFIT announced a partnership with The Ring Boxing Community to bring UFIT Boxing By The Ring to their Club Street Hub.
  • Spartans Boxing Club is excited to announce that they’ll soon be launching Spartans Mind, a new mental health product built around our boxing community.
  • Core Collective has teamed up with Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa to launch Core Collective Sentosa within the resort – wellness retreat, outdoor boot camp, functional training area, and a collaboration with Chinois Spa to create an urban oasis for busy city dwellers.
  • Believe Fitness has started construction on their two newest clubs in Malaysia, joining their other new clubs to total an 80% expansion of clubs for the 2022 year.
  • Base Thailand celebrates their 6th year anniversary. Congratulations to Jack and team!
  • Selina has announced the launch of Selina Serenity Rawai Phuket in Thailand. The resort is the group’s first property to be fully operational in Southeast Asia.
  • Laguna Phuket and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) have signed an MoU to develop a world-class medical and wellness centre within the Thai integrated resort. Scheduled to open early-2023, they will offer healthcare and wellness support, including regenerative medicine, rehabilitation and preventive cardiology services.
  • Indonesia & Malaysia plans to learn from the cannabis policy of neighbouring Thailand which legalized the use of the drug. Thailand’s Department of Medical Sciences signed a MOU to research, develop and extract medicinal substances from cannabis.
  • Xponential Fitness signed a Master Franchise Agreement with CycleBar in Japan – the Master Franchisee can license at least 30 CycleBar studios in Japan over the next 10 years
  • Asaya at Rosewood Hong Kong brings back A-Team of fitness and wellness experts. Asaya is bringing its A-Team of experts, offering more than 300 classes and experiences over the course of two months.
