12 Quick-Fire Questions with Executives Leading Our Industry to a Brighter Future

How do you describe your company in one sentence?
Les Mills Asia Pacific brings the world’s best workouts to life – in club and on demand – by empowering people across Asia Pacific with transformative fitness experiences, expert training, and innovative products.

What target/milestones are you laser-focused on this year?
We have very ambitious growth plans, together with our network of partners, across our key markets in Southeast Asia. We are currently razor focused on securing the investment to capitalise on this incredibly exciting time in the region.

What is your proudest ever career achievement?
Emerging from the worst of the pandemic years with our team largely intact.

What excites you the most about the next 12 months?
A combination of the (almost) endless potential for growth in the developing markets of Asia, along with a growing alignment of the fitness industry with government and allied health sectors in more developed countries such as Australia and Singapore. In addition, we’re bringing two exciting new products to market – Les Mills Ceremony and Les Mills Yoga – both of which are set to transform our club partners’ businesses in the years ahead!

What is the best business lesson you have ever learned?
That failure is often a precursor to success.

If you could wave a magic wand and change something about our industry, what would you change and why?
I’ve noticed that as an industry we tend to spend a lot of time looking back at how things used to be, instead of focusing on what’s ahead. I’d suggest shifting that mindset – if we’re not paying attention to what’s coming and how we can adapt, we might end up getting left behind.

Describe yourself in three words
Driven, joyful, authentic (my three core values are Drive, Joy and Authenticity).

What is your personal mantra?
Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re absolutely right.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
So many but I can’t go past my mother and father, both for very different reasons.

If you had an extra hour in your day, how would you spend it?
More quality time with loved ones.

If you could have dinner with any three people – past or present – who would they be?
Barack Obama, Jordan Peterson and the late Queen Elizabeth (imagine the stories!). Honourable mention to my Grandmother Kathryn (RIP) – I would give just about anything to have dinner with her again.

If you had to write a message on a billboard for all to see, what would you write?
You only get one crack at this thing called life, so what on Earth are you waiting for? GO FOR IT.
