12 Quick-Fire Questions with Executives Leading Our Industry to a Brighter Future
How do you describe your company in one sentence?
Studio Pilates International is a global movement that’s changing the way the world works out – delivering a consistent, science-led Pilates experience in every studio, powered by world-class instructor training and an unshakeable commitment to results.
What target/milestones are you laser-focused on this year?
This year, we’re laser-focused on global expansion – accelerating growth across the U.S., UK, and Canada, while continuing to deepen our footprint in Australia and New Zealand. At the same time, we’re scaling up our instructor development infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing franchise network. We now have over 1,200 instructors employed globally across our studios – all trained and continuously mentored by us in partnership with our franchisees. As we expand into new cities, we’re investing in localized training hubs and ongoing education programs to ensure every instructor is equipped to deliver the same exceptional client experience that Studio Pilates is known for. Growth is exciting, but doing it without compromising on quality is what truly sets us apart.
What is your proudest ever career achievement?
Building Studio Pilates International from a single studio into a global franchise brand has been an incredible journey – but my proudest achievement isn’t the scale, it’s the impact. We’ve created a model that empowers franchisees to build thriving businesses, instructors to build meaningful careers, and clients to transform their relationship with movement. Seeing clients who’ve never felt confident in their bodies fall in love with exercise… watching franchisees leave unfulfilling jobs to build something of their own… that’s the part that gets me. It’s not just about Pilates. It’s about changing lives – at scale.
What excites you the most about the next 12 months?
The next 12 months feel like a tipping point. We’ve built the systems, refined the model, and proven the results – now we’re scaling with purpose. What excites me most is watching the brand land in new cities around the world and seeing it instantly resonate. Studio Pilates feels like it belongs whether it’s in Brisbane, Brooklyn, or London – and that global-local harmony is rare. I’m also energized by the caliber of people joining the brand: high-performers, career changers, and entrepreneurs who see this as more than a business – they see it as a movement. Watching them take the Studio Pilates playbook and execute with precision is incredibly rewarding.
What is the best business lesson you have ever learned?
Solve the real problem, not just the obvious one. When we first started scaling, it became clear that the biggest challenge in boutique fitness wasn’t studio design or customer acquisition, it was people. Most studios live or die by the quality of their instructors. So instead of hoping we could find great ones, we built a world-class education system from the ground up. We now train and mentor every instructor across our network – over 1,200 globally – and that decision has been the backbone of our consistency, client results, and franchisee success. In business, you can’t outsource your core product. You have to own it, obsess over it, and build systems that let it scale. And above all else, think big and believe that it’s possible.
If you could wave a magic wand and change something about our industry, what would you change and why
I’d cut through the noise and make wellness simpler, more inclusive, and less overwhelming. Right now, the industry often overcomplicates health, pushing extremes, perfection, and constantly shifting trends. The result? Most people feel like they’re failing before they’ve even started. I’d love to see a global shift where wellness is grounded in consistency over intensity, education over ego, and sustainable habits that fit into real life.
Describe yourself in three words
Creative. Grounded. Relentless.
What is your personal mantra?
Discomfort is where the growth is. I’ve learned that the moments you want to back away – when it feels uncertain, intimidating, or unfamiliar – are often the exact moments you need to lean in. That’s where the breakthroughs happen. Whether it’s in business, leadership, or personal growth, I remind myself daily that comfort doesn’t create change.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My wife, Tanya. She’s been my steadfast companion not only in life, she’s been by my side in building this company from day one. As a physical therapist, she brought the clinical lens and expertise that grounded our method in safety and results. But more than that, she’s my co-founder and the person who helped shape the DNA of Studio Pilates.
If you had an extra hour in your day, how would you spend it?
Moving my body. It’s my reset button. Whether it’s swimming, skiing, surfing, mountain biking, or jumping on the reformer, movement clears my head and reconnects me to myself. It’s where I get my best ideas, and it’s how I stay sharp mentally.. Exercise isn’t just something I do; it’s part of who I am.
If you could have dinner with any three people – past or present – who would they be?
Three men who built movements, not just businesses:
- Joseph Pilates, to hear directly from the source what drove him, how he developed such a revolutionary method, and what he’d think of how it evolved.
- Phil Knight, because of the grit and branding genius it took to build one of the most iconic companies in the world from nothing.
- Richard Branson, for his bold thinking, global mindset, and ability to make business feel adventurous and deeply human at the same time.
If you had to write a message on a billboard for all to see, what would you write?
Fall in love with the work, not just the win.
