12 Quick-Fire Questions with Executives Leading Our Industry to a Brighter Future
How do you describe your company in one sentence?
GOCO Hospitality is a global leader in wellness hospitality development and management, dedicated to embedding authentic wellbeing services into the heart of every project we create.
What target/milestones are you laser-focused on this year?
In 2024, we proudly acquired Fivelements, a renowned wellness brand with deep cultural roots and global recognition. Our focus now is on revitalising and reimagining this icon and transforming it into a flagship for our destination wellness hospitality platform. This marks a pivotal milestone, an embodiment of everything we have learned, built and believed in over the past decades. It is not just a brand evolution, but the beginning of a new chapter in delivering integrated, authentic and future-focused wellness experiences.
What is your proudest ever career achievement?
In the mid-90s, as the wellness industry was just starting to take shape, I had the privilege of co-creating Ananda in the Himalayas, India’s first destination wellness resort. That project, along with many that followed, helped lay the foundation for what wellness hospitality has become today.
What excites you the most about the next 12 months?
I am especially energised by the opportunity to redefine wellness through the revitalisation of Fivelements, now under our care, at both its original Bali location and a new destination in Koh Samui. These properties will embody a new generation of healing environments, where ancient traditions, regenerative design and evidence- based science converge. We are also developing two destination wellness resorts in Europe, which we will unveil later this year. It is a creatively rich time, and I look forward. to shaping what comes next.
What is the best business lesson you have ever learned?
Surviving cancer changed everything. It gave me a radically different perspective on health, purpose and time. That experience shaped the way I lead, build and live, being more conscious, more grounded and hopefully, more human.
If you could wave a magic wand and change something about our industry, what would you change and why?
I would steer wellness away from becoming another entertainment product. Too often, it is commodified and diluted. True wellness should be an educational and preventative force, and deeply regenerative for both people and our planet.
Describe yourself in three words
Curious. Grateful. Forward-thinking.
What is your personal mantra?
“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” Rumi
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My mother – her strength, compassion and ability to give far beyond what was expected shaped the way I see the world. As a single mother, she often gave more to me than she ever kept for herself, and that quiet resilience continues to inspire me to this day. Professionally, I have been fortunate to have mentors like Georg Rafael, the co-founder of Regent Hotels & Resorts. Over several decades, he shared generous guidance, trust and opportunities that helped shape my journey.
If you had an extra hour in your day, how would you spend it?
I would spend more time with my children and on the mat, deepening my yoga practice.
If you could have dinner with any three people – past or present – who would they be?
In my twenties, I worked at Andy Warhol’s studio in New York and had the chance to cross paths with some incredible personalities, Andy himself, Mick Jagger and many others from that iconic creative circle. We partied together, and Studio 54 was often our second home. But I never had the chance to sit down for a proper one-on-one conversation with either of them. I think that dinner would be something. I have also seen the Rolling Stones perform live on four continents, and their energy and cultural influence continue to fascinate me. And if I could add one more chair, it would go to Albert Einstein. I have always been intrigued by his genius, as well as his ability to see the poetry behind the physics.
If you had to write a message on a billboard for all to see, what would you write?
“Love in action.”
I first came across this phrase as a guest at Fivelements Retreat in Bali, and it has stayed with me ever since. It is a beautiful reminder of how we show up in the world through presence, purpose and compassion.
