  • Firstly, huge congrats to the winners of our 2022 Awards of Excellence announced last month in Singapore. Winners included: Myzone, Mindbody, ClassPass, Therabody, Lift Brands, BFT, Accor, Fitness Playground, Chris Caldwell, Greg Oliver and Jack Thomas.
  • Details of our end-of-year Asia-Pacific Festival in Bangkok, over 29-30 November, are now online so do check them out if you wish to join us in Thailand!
  • Two decades of Anytime Fitness! A big congrats to Chuck Runyon, David Mortensen and worldwide franchise owners, master franchisees & leadership team across all of our brands. Congrats also for another huge milestone, as Anytime Fitness Japan opens their 1,000th club. Incredible!
  • Yu Life raised $120M (Series C round) at an $800M valuation for gamified, wellness-focused life insurance. The funding brought in a new strategic investor on board, Japan’s Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, which is leading the round
  • Core Health & Fitness acquired Jacobs Ladder, the leader in ladder climbing fitness offerings.
  • Peloton stops making its own products – outsources manufacturing solely to Taiwan-based Rexon, suspending operations with Tonic Fitness Technology in Taiwan. Congrats to the Rexon team.
  • Qantas plans to add a dedicated “wellbeing zone” to future aircraft, complete with on-screen fitness content, healthy snacks, and a hydration station.
  • Cotton On Group invest in upstate studios in Victoria to expand nationally in AU
  • Congrats to VIVA Leisure who now have 150 clubs open, they listed on the ASX with 29 locations in early June 2019 – incredible growth from Harry and his team. They also announced that they achieved $10 million in monthly revenue for the first-time during May.
  • BFT (Body Fit Training) opened its 200th site – in the Auckland suburb of Flat Bush. They have also surpassed 400 franchises sold and will round out 450 sold by the end of Q3.
  • Congrats to Roman and the Air Locker Training team who have just confirmed a deal to expand their franchise offering into the US – clubs to be launched there soon!
  • Club Active opened their eighth club – Club Active Dee Why – in Sydney’s Northern Beaches
  • Western Australia’s largest Snap Fitness opens in Fremantle
  • Congrats to FireFit securing a new international location in Brisbane’s SunnyBank area!
  • Xtend Barre Australia launched On Demand, an online pre-recorded workout library that gives users the option to Xtend anywhere, anytime.
  • UFC Gym opens new ‘signature’ club in the Sydney CBD -​​ this ‘state of the art’ facility offers functional training classes, weights, cardio, wellness, recovery zones, MMA, allied health services and a premium juice bar
  • Fitstop Yarrabilba #80 opened at the end of May.
  • REVL Training Studio #14, REVL Greenslopes opened doors to members. They are excited to continue their expansion across Queensland… but first, REVL Port Melbourne launching mid-July!
  • TotalFusion Morningside is set to open the biggest gym facility in Queensland – grand in both size and offerings with their 6 studio spaces: yoga, functional, fusion, cycle, run and reformer classes, art gym, child minding services and unique wellness centre.
  • Ezypay has partnered with Cuscal to bring PayTo services to its business customers in Australia, solidifying their position of leadership in the payments industry and putting the company among a small number of payment service providers delivering PayTo to the market.
  • Sport New Zealand has relaunched its Push Play campaign, aiming to get people up and down the country to add more movement into their day to day lives.
  • Leading hotel group, Choice Hotels Asia Pacific, has launched its Choice Hotels Community Sports Grants Program, supporting registered sporting clubs and individual athletes as they return to sport across Australia and New Zealand.
  • AUSactive ready to engage with the new federal government to deliver a national wellbeing budget as Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, having pledged to take the country in a new direction
  • A new free app – Get Active Victoria – provides users with exercise tips and workout videos. Launched by the Victorian Government, the app aims to promote physical activity to the public
  • Anytime Fitness is gearing up for their annual ‘Tread As One’ fundraising challenge this October for ‘R U OK?’ – with the intent to better support members and staff on having conversations that save lives.
  • Uniigym smart workout service has officially launched with Singtel in Singapore – AI technology real-time feedback, AR fitness coach, personal health management, various fitness programmes and workout rankings/results
  • Intellect announced a new capital raise of US$20M in a Series A deal to continue building a mental healthcare system made for Asia Pacific. In just 2 years, they’ve been able to scale and serve over 3 million members, with largest employers and partners in the region
  • Ultrahuman, a metabolic health company, acquired LazyCo, an Indian smart ring maker last April and is now entering the smart ring wars.
  • Sport Singapore will take over the ownership and management of the Singapore Sports Hub with plans to make it more accessible to the broader community in Singapore.
  • Cannabis tourism is poised to become a growth market in Thailand as Thai authorities approved the de facto decriminalisation of marijuana. S Hotels & Resorts, Panpuri, Anantara & MSpa International are among the 1st nationally to offer CBD infused products, CBD spa and wellness experiences.
  • Malaysia’s Evolution Wellness brand ‘GoFit’ – the 24/7 high-value low-price, high tech fitness concept that launched into Asia’s fitness scene in 2020 – is set to launch in Australia soon!
  • Tiger Muay Thai, a world-class premier fight camp, is now open in Singapore.
  • Adedance Aerial launches a new aerial studio in Marina One! With over 16 aerial points at 9m high each, and two dedicated rooms for contortion, stretch, handstands and more, they have built Singapore’s biggest (and prettiest) Aerial Studio!
  • Dusit’s new Devarana Wellness centre, opens with enhanced offerings of a spa, lounge areas, fitness & sports, meditation, sound baths, and other rejuvenating experiences. The spa presents more than 30 luxurious and healing treatments, steam room, sauna, and Jacuzzi.
  • Minmed completed the acquisition of Revel Cycle as part of their plan to integrate screening, fitness and nutrition in their primary care service provision. This comes on top of their fitness studio at Pearl’s Hill that commenced operations last Dec.
  • The Jungle MMA turned 5-year-old last month
  • Grityard celebrates their 3-year anniversary
  • Clmb Studio, Singapore’s 1st versa climbing studio located right in the heart of CBD, held their grand opening last week. Congrats Nic and team!
  • Located in a beautiful conservation building within Amara Sanctuary resort in Sentosa, Core Collective Sentosa will feature a large outdoor area for boot camps and functional training, a fully equipped indoor gym, as well as a variety of spa, treatment and consultation rooms
  • FLGs Jetts Thailand opened its 39th club in Sai Mai in northern Bangkok and anticipates 42 clubs by the end of the year, with confident predictions of surpassing 50 locations during 2023.
  • CJ and the Move Private Fitness team are excited with the opening of their 3rd boutique personal training studio branch in Malaysia.
  • SparkD is the official cognition partner for the Under Armour COMBINE games.
  • Tokyo announced as host of 2025 World Athletics Championships
  • The iconic Fairmont flag will fly in Japan for the first time in 2025 with their debut into Japan’s luxury segment. The 219-room Fairmont Tokyo has awe-inspiring views of Tokyo Bay, as well as, 3 restaurants and bars, a spa, fitness centre, swimming pool, and more.
  • BM Co., which operates a studio with a Korean expertise-based Pilates academy, and TAB, which leads the rehabilitation business and fitness market in China, signed a Korea-China Pilates Health Industry Strategy Joint Agreement
  • Home gym equipment maker Mitao completed its Angel round worth $30M on June 22, led by IDG. The main product of Mitao is a high-end home intelligent strength training device.
  • Hong Kong’s 2021 Women Powerlifting Champion, Stella Lee, launched a performance-focused activewear line – The LFG Squad, Hong Kong’s newest activewear brand.
  • AimFit, Pakistan’s #1 digital health & wellness solution crossed 50,000 workouts on the AimFIT app
  • Premium equipment designer and manufacturer, ZIVA, has launched a new line of products – “Light Commercial” – specially catered to the growing demand for smaller, more private, more personalized boutique training studios with a greater focus on functional fitness.
  • Stages Cycling is proud to announce the launch of Stages Studio Boost, a new software solution that supports clubs/studios, instructors, and members through behind-the-scenes data collection and customizable post-workout brand emails.
  • Technogym has launched Biostrength, a new line for strength training with uniquely new technology that uses AI and scientific research, to ensure exercisers get 30% better results in the same amount of time compared to classic training with equipment or free weights.
  • Luxury hotel chain, Mandarin Oriental has launched a new initiative called ‘Intelligent Movement’ to help guests overcome the effects of sedentary lifestyles. The initiative is a collaboration between MOHG, Joint Dynamics and Hyperice.
  • EGYM has announced an integration with a leading UK-based software company Fisikal to enhance its capabilities to serve the needs of enterprise customers running multi-site operations.
  • Anytime Fitness Asia members get 24/7 access to Les Mills content – Les Mills Asia Pacific announced an expanded partnership with Inspire Brands Asia, the owners and operators of Anytime Fitness clubs in Hong Kong. Indonesia. Malaysia. Philippines. Singapore. Taiwan. Thailand. Vietnam.
  • Les Mills is also excited to announce their partnership with Emirates Group – LES MILLS+ gives a healthy boost to all Emirates Group staff platinum cardholders access to fitness anytime, anywhere.
  • Myzone’s new MZ-Smart Station from Myzone, adds FITBENCH workouts to its 1300+ strong library of individual instructional videos.
  • Snap Fitness announced today the global launch of the “Earn Your Apple Watch” program in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Ireland. This helps Snap enhance member satisfaction, improve member retention and increase their membership base.
  • Glofox appointed by UFC GYM® as preferred vendor partner to support continued international expansion
  • Johnson Health Tech (JHT) announced their acquisition of the fitness division of Cravatex Brands Limited, a prior distributor of JHT, becoming the first fitness equipment company to have a wholly-owned subsidiary in India.
  • FLG Vietnam broke a new Guinness world record – the largest online album of people posing for before and after photos – 21,754. 14 months / 100 partners / +56,000 people signed up / +3000 FLG team members joined and 21,754 people successfully transformed
