{"id":3389,"date":"2021-08-11T11:53:19","date_gmt":"2021-08-11T03:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.thefitsummit.com\/?post_type=all_speakers&#038;p=3389"},"modified":"2024-06-18T12:37:24","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T04:37:24","slug":"tony-de-leede","status":"publish","type":"all_speakers","link":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/speakers\/tony-de-leede\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony De Leede"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aged 12, started a Stamp trading business.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aged 16, bought a caf\u00e9 and converted it into a surfboard shop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aged 16, bought first residential investment property.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aged 18, started Sanura Imports with his mum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aged 18 &#8211; 27, imported clothing from Bali and Philippines to supply 100\u2019s of retail stores and opened 2 city stores.\u00a0 Invested in 12 residential investment properties and one large commercial project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1981: At aged 28, left Australia to travel the world for a year.\u00a0 Arrived in Atlanta for what was to be 2 weeks and stayed 20 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1982: Founded <strong>Australian Body Works (ABW),<\/strong> by 2000 he had expanded his health club group to a total of 23 clubs across Atlanta.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1989: Started <strong>Cardio Theatre Holdings\u2122<\/strong>\u00a0 and introduced the concept of \u201cExercise Entertainment\u201d to the international fitness industry.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1996: Atlanta Olympics: appointed \u2018envoy\u2019 to the Australian Olympic Team for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.\u00a0Responsible for designing, building and staffing the first ever <strong>Olympic Village Health Club<\/strong>. \u00a0 He continued his Olympic involvement as the Olympic Village manager at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1997: Merged Cardio Theatre with <strong>ClubCom<\/strong> (a media\/content business that works inside the fitness industry) and eventually sold the Cardio Theatre\/ClubCom business to Precor in 2002.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2000:\u00a0Negotiated the sale of the 23 strong ABW health club group in Atlanta.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2000: Helped to negotiate the purchase of the insolvent Healthland Australia Group by UK health club group \u2013 Fitness First Plc.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2000: Became a Partner and Managing Director of <strong>Fitness First Australia.<\/strong>\u00a0 Tony stayed as Managing Director of Fitness First until September 2008, growing the Australian business to over 90 clubs. When he handed over the reins, the group had a 37% EBITDA on all clubs and a 42% EBITDA on mature clubs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2003: Co-founded \u2018Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Between 2000 and 2008 launched an international multi-award winning 400 acre luxury \u2018Lifestyle Retreat\u2019 located in the Gold Coast hinterland called <strong>Gwinganna <\/strong>which opened in 2005 and a media company called <strong>Active Media Group (AMG<\/strong>) built to provide alternative advertising mediums for both local and national businesses which he started in 2003.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2008: Sold AMG business to Fitness First in December 2008.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2010: After leaving Fitness First,\u00a0 he launched the <strong>Fit n Fast <\/strong>gyms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2011:  Opened a new \u2018blue sky\u2019 concept called <strong>Hotel Komune <\/strong>\u2013 a surf retreat, yoga and wellness resort brand in Bali and Coolangatta.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2015: Launched <strong>Qmax<\/strong> Functional Training (originally branded Quickie Max) which offered high intensity instructor led group classes at 18 locations.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2016: Launched two digital content brands being Move123 and Mind123<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2016: Launched<strong> YogaBar<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2017: Acquired a significant interest in <strong>Somadome <\/strong>meditation pods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2018: Launched Virtual Solutions and turned it into Wellness Solutions\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2019: Bought a French company that invented the <strong>O2 Breathing &amp; Meditation Chair<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2021: Launched <strong>Club W<\/strong> the world first community wellness centre incorporating a Wellness Lounge, Wellness Collective and Wellness Co-working.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2023: Launched the next generation of Club W called <strong>Wello Works<\/strong> in Sydney and soon to open in Atlanta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tony has owned many other businesses including part of a small airline, micro brewery, bar\/nightclub in Mexico, timber plantation, restaurants and many more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned Wellness and Fitness Entrepreneur<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":35631,"template":"","speakers-type":[63,12],"class_list":["post-3389","all_speakers","type-all_speakers","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","speakers-type-2024-apac","speakers-type-awards-judges"],"blocksy_meta":{"styles_descriptor":{"styles":{"desktop":"","tablet":"","mobile":""},"google_fonts":[],"version":6}},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/all_speakers\/3389","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/all_speakers"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/all_speakers"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/35631"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3389"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"speakers-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/beyondactiv.com\/events\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/speakers-type?post=3389"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
